The European Mortgage and Investment Corporation was formed by J. Henry Schroder Banking Corporation and Lee, Higginson & Co. in 1925 to raise funds for the countries of the former Austro-Hungarian empire. These funds were made available to the Algemeine Oesterreichische Boden Credit Anstalt (Austrian General Land Credit Institution) and the Hungarian Banks Co-operative Society, and were secured against mortgages held by the recipients. In 1931 interest repayments were halted and in 1933 a receiver was appointed.

The Deutsches Kalisyndikat [German Potash Syndicate] controlled the potash industry across Germany, producing fertilizer for domestic consumption and export. J. Henry Schröder & Co. issued bonds for the syndicate between 1925 and 1929: the £5,000,000 bond issued in 1925 was the first German corporate issue in London since the outbreak of the First World War.
After the Second World War, most of the syndicate’s mines and factories lay in the Russian zone of occupation. The first post-war visit by a member of the firm to Germany took place in 1946 to begin the process of securing the transfer of the syndicate’s remittances in the Netherlands and Switzerland to bondholders.

David Leslie Murison (c.1921?) was an investment banker for Helbert Wagg & Co. He had joined the company straight after his war service, and he was made director by the age of 35 in 1956. After the acquisition of Helbert Wagg & Co. Murison became a director for J. Henry Schroder Wagg & Co. Ltd in 1962. By 1967 Murison had begun a three-year secondment in Australia for (Schroder) Darling & Company Ltd. By the early 1970s Murison was working back in London for J. Henry Schroder Wagg & Co. Ltd but with an emphasis on Australian business. His papers revealed he had a wife called Jackie (Jacqueline?) who was shown to accompany him on his business trips abroad and his personal files revealed that they had two children, Andrew and Sarah.
